Background

The plant had long run an Emerson DELTA V DCS. As requirements for safety, service and trustworthiness grew, the legacy system could no longer meet the plant’s needs, so it had to be retrofitted to a reliable domestic brand.

Challenges

• Foreign system provided no source code
• Original control schemes and key documentation were missing
• Short shutdown window and tight schedule
• Full teardown of the legacy system was irreversible and high-risk

Outcome

We designed a targeted solution based on the project’s specifics and the client’s situation. Leveraging deep understanding of many systems, we successfully replicated the original control logic onto the domestic system, completed the retrofit on schedule and optimized the control scheme. The system started up successfully on the first attempt, with greatly improved control quality.
