DCS Localization Retrofit for a State-Owned Chemical Plant
Background
The plant had long run an Emerson DELTA V DCS. As requirements for safety, service and trustworthiness grew, the legacy system could no longer meet the plant’s needs, and had to be retrofitted to a reliable domestic brand.
Challenges
- Foreign system provided no source code
- Original control schemes and key documentation were missing
- Short shutdown window, tight schedule; full teardown was irreversible and high-risk
Outcome
A targeted solution was designed around the project’s specifics. The original control logic was successfully replicated onto the domestic system and the control scheme optimized. The system started up successfully on the first attempt, with markedly improved control quality.
